The Hancock County commissioners are suing a former Fostoria trash hauling company for nearly $100,000 in unpaid landfill fees.
The suit against G.I.B.S. LLC was filed in December by the commissioners after several attempts to collect the hefty sum, according to the court documents.
A pretrial hearing in the lawsuit is scheduled for today in the courtroom of Hancock County Common Pleas Judge Reginald Routson.
Earlier this month, the trash hauler went out of business without prior notice to its customers, which may have numbered over 1,000.
In a statement issued by the company March 6, general manager Larry Lundy apologized for the shutdown.
Lundy said he had been unable to find a buyer for the business during the past year, and had no choice but to close due to family health issues.
