McCOMB — McComb village officials will hold a public meeting this week to determine the fate of this summer’s Cookie Fest.

A low turnout of volunteers to help with the festival has prompted organizers to consider canceling the event.

The public meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the municipal building.

Also hanging in the balance is the annual fireworks display.

McComb Council on Monday asked if any group or organization would want to assume this task.

The fireworks have, in past summers, been operated by various village entities.

Interested people should contact the village office.

In other matters, council kicked around ideas that could be funded by a community development block grant.

Suggestions included infrastructure repairs, playground equipment, street banners, village signs and sidewalks.

Separately, council approved an ordinance to update its sidewalk code.

In other business, council:

• Held a closed executive session to discuss personnel matters.

• Will rent two portable toilets for the village park until new restrooms are installed.
