BLOOMDALE — The U.S. Postal Service says it is shutting down the Bloomdale post office because the building has deteriorated.

Today will be the last day of operation at the post office at 109 S. Main St.

Bloomdale postal operations will be moved to the Fostoria post office at 202 W. Center St., Fostoria, on Wednesday.

The Postal Service said an investigation of the Bloomdale post office’s condition found “substantial deterioration in its structural integrity.”

No final decision has been made on permanently discontining or closing the Bloomdale post office, according to the Postal Service.

People with questions or concerns can contact Brian Tumey, officer in charge of the Fostoria post office, at 419-435-6651.

The Fostoria post office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The lobby is always open for access to post office boxes.
