FOSTORIA — A Snapchat post mentioning the possibility of a shooting at Fostoria Junior/Senior High School on Wednesday was a hoax, authorities said.

The post apparently came from a hacked account late Tuesday and the Fostoria Police Division became involved.

Schools were open with police officers present, according to Police Chief Keith Loreno and a post on Fostoria City Schools’ Facebook page.

Students, parents and others in the school district were informed of the situation through the post on the Facebook page or through the district’s “all-call” telephone system.

Fostoria City Schools Superintendent Andrew Sprang said the decision to conduct the school day as scheduled was made after he consulted with Loreno. He said it turned out to be a regular day of school.
