The Marathon Center for the Performing Arts will host a “Community Band Bash!” on Sunday, June 23, at 3 p.m.

Hosted by Chris Oaks, WFIN radio personality, the program will feature performances by the Findlay Civic Concert Band under the direction of Jack Taylor; and the Fostoria Community Band directed by Craig McKenzie. Special guests will be the Millstream Singers under the direction of Norm Cassidy.

The concert is free and open to the public.

Each band will present a short program, with the Findlay band performing music of Leroy Anderson, Richard Wagner and Dvorak’s finale from the “New World Symphony.”

The Fostoria Band will feature music of John Williams and Glenn Miller and will offer a performance of “Band of Brothers Symphonic Suite” by Michael Kamen.

Millstream Singers will join the Findlay band on music of George M. Cohan and will appear with the Fostoria band on Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA.”

The bands will join forces to perform the “On The Mall” march, and the Millstream Singers will join the combined bands for a finale featuring the famous Wilhousky-Nelson arrangement of the “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”

This will be the second joint concert by the two community bands. Both groups met last summer for a concert at Wainwright Ampitheatre in Fostoria.
