ARLINGTON — Arlington officials on Monday asked residents for patience while work continues on the community swimming pool that has yet to open this season.

A crack has been repaired in the pool structure. “It appear to be holding,” Street Superintendent Dean Glick said of the pool.

Also, adjustments currently are being made to balance chemicals used in the pool.

Village officials noted that three to four weeks of the pool season have been lost. Pool passes have been adjusted.

Separately, First Federal in Arlington will be available to collect water and sewer bills for village customers.

The pending closing of the Arlington IGA meant the loss of a place for bills to be paid. The bank will collect bills in a deposit box or via drive-thru.

Village Council had considered installing a collection box at the municipal building, but that idea was nixed.

In other business, council:

• Heard that the cost of fixing a fire truck damaged by heat and smoke will be $17,462.
