A Mount Blanchard man whose death is considered suspicious by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office “died of a single gunshot wound to the chest,” Sgt. Jason Seem said Monday.

Boe N. Bushong, 22, died July 4 at his Amanda Township 194 residence. A friend found him and called 911, Seem said.

Hancock County Coroner Dr. Mark Fox confirmed Monday that Bushong was shot.

Ashlie A. Velasquez, 29, has been arrested for tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, because she allegedly disposed of the weapon, Seem said. The sheriff’s office hasn’t found it yet.

Bushong and Velasquez were in a relationship, according to their Facebook pages.

There are currently no new charges against Velasquez, but more are possible, Seem said Monday.

The sheriff’s office responded to Bushong’s Amanda Township residence at 10:11 p.m. July 4.

Later, around 3:30 or 4 a.m. July 5, Velasquez was spotted on the side of Ohio 37, in the Mount Blanchard area, by a driver who called the sheriff’s office.

Investigators have spoken to a person who gave her a ride from the Mount Blanchard area to Findlay, Seem said. She was dropped off in the “general area” of the apartment where she was arrested on Friday.

Velasquez was arrested at the Redwood apartments on Soldier Drive and Veterans Lane, off Fostoria Avenue in Findlay. She has her own apartment in that area, but was found at the apartment of someone Seem described as an “acquaintance.”

The sheriff’s office had been seeking Velasquez since July 5, when it initially sought public assistance locating her.
