Semifinalists for the Golden Apple Awards have been announced by the Findlay Rotary Club.
The annual awards honor top educators in Findlay and Hancock County.
Three winners — one each for the elementary, middle school and high school levels — will be announced at a dinner on Oct. 16. They each will receive the Golden Apple Award, a $2,500 cash prize and will join past finalists in the Golden Apple Academy.
Semifinalists will each receive a $250 cash prize.
The elementary semifinalists are Bridgett Bunn, K-5 intervention specialist at Van Buren; Denise Matson, K-5 physical education specialist at Liberty-Benton; and Tom Whipkey, third- and fourth-grade teacher at Wilson Vance Intermediate in Findlay.
The three middle school semifinalists are Wendi Davis, director of instrumental music activities for grades 5-12 at Cory-Rawson; Kathleen Rayle, intervention specialist for grades 6-8 at Glenwood Middle School in Findlay; and David Sorensen, instrumental music instructor at Arlington.
The high school semifinalists are Martie Andrews, intervention specialist at Findlay; Kris Sherer, art teacher at Cory-Rawson; and Cassie Van Horn, medical technology instructor at Millstream Career Center.
