United Way of Hancock County’s campaign kickoff begins today with a 16-team corporate kickball event.

“Last year’s kickball tournament was a huge success with a great turnout of community members, so we decided to do it again,” said Judy Pusateri, resource development director. “This event is about more than kickball; it’s about our community’s culture to support philanthropic interests as they volunteer, donate, and give back to our community in their unique ways while having fun.”

The tournament takes place from 4:30 to 9 p.m. at the Marathon Diamonds, with the final game under the lights at 7 p.m.

Participating teams include: Whirlpool Corp., Hancock Hotel, Freudenberg NOK, Simona-PMC, Ag Credit ACA, Family Resource Center, Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., Blanchard Valley Health System, Hancock Federal Credit Union, Job and Family Services, Fifth-Third Bank, Dental Center of Northwest Ohio, Findlay Young Professionals, Tour De Force and Rowmark.

Student athletes from the University of Findlay will serve as umpires.

The event is open to the public.

“This year our campaign theme is ‘Change doesn’t happen alone.’ We want to celebrate the spirit of our donors, partners and our entire community. This is a great way to come together, have fun and signal the beginning of this year’s campaign,” said Angela DeBoskey, United Way of Hancock County CEO.
