BEAVERDAM — An Ontario man was killed in a four-vehicle accident on Interstate 75, north of Beaverdam, Tuesday evening, the Lima post of the State Highway Patrol reported.
Bhardwaj Vidit, 24, of Brampton, Ontario, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Allen County Coroner’s Office, according to the patrol.
Vidit was driving a tractor-trailer south on I-75 at 5:46 p.m. when he struck the rear of a tractor-trailer driven by Wisam Dawood, 34, of Belleriver, Ontario, which was slowing down for stopped traffic.
The impact pushed the truck into the rear of a pickup truck driven by Richard L. Fender, 66, of Tipp City, the patrol reported, and the Fender truck struck the rear of a 2019 Chevy Impala driven by Quincy M. Salcido, 23, of Van Wert.
Both the Fender and Salcido vehicles were stopped on the interstate as a result of traffic backup in a construction zone.
Dawood was taken by Bath Township EMS to Lima Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Fender and Salcido were both treated at the scene.
The right lane of the interstate was closed for several hours following the accident.
