A man who is serving prison time for domestic violence has been indicted by a Hancock County grand jury for assaulting a man outside Findlay’s Walnut Saloon almost two years ago.

Jason A. Anderson, 37, of Findlay, was charged Tuesday with felonious assault, a second-degree felony, for allegedly injuring Darryl Hammer on Dec. 16, 2017.

On Dec. 31, 2017, Darryl Hammer’s 53-year-old brother, Gregory Hammer, died as a result of the same fight, but his fatal injuries aren’t attributable to Anderson, according to Hancock County Prosecutor Phil Riegle.

“His main involvement dealt with Darryl, and not Greg,” Riegle said.

Riegle said he is not expecting any additional charges related to the assault on the Hammer brothers.

Anderson is serving a 17-month sentence at the Southeastern Correctional Institution in Lancaster.

The domestic violence conviction was his third in Hancock County Common Pleas Court. He also has misdemeanor assault and domestic violence convictions in Findlay Municipal Court.
