Findlay High School’s wrestling team rolled through its pool competition before running out of steam in the finals and finishing fourth on its home mats on Saturday at the 16-team Trojans Duals.

The Trojans rolled to wins over Bluffton (61-11), North Canton Hoover (39-28) and Bellevue (51-10) in its preliminary matches.

In the semifinals, the Trojans fell just short of making the finals in a 34-29 loss to Olmsted Falls. Medina slipped past FHS 34-27 in the third-place match.

Napoleon topped Olmsted Falls 40-30 in the final to win the championship. Carey (1-4) was 12th, Ottawa-Glandorf (2-3) and Bluffton (1-4) were 13th and 14th, respectively, while Arcadia (0-5) was 16th.

Findlay was clinging to a 29-28 lead in the semis against Olmsted Falls with only the 126-pound match remaining. Olmsted Falls’ Jihad Salti scored a takedown and two-point nearfall in the first and second periods before scoring a pin against Findlay’s Jaden Johnson in 3:35 to seal the win.

The Trojans’ Liam Morrison (120) and Joey Staschiak (132) started their seasons with 5-0 records. Zach Bryant (182) was 4-0 and Seth Douglas (145), Josiah Trevino (152), Jonah Smith (106) and Dewey Lee (285) went 4-1.

Jonah Smith (106), Dru Hernandez (160) and Loran Charles (195) posted 3-2 marks for the Trojans.

Carey scored a 36-30 win over Ottawa-Glandorf in the preliminary round but dropped matches to Napoleon (56-16), Fairview Park Fairview (42-27), Bellevue (42-33) and Lima Bath (44-30).

The Blue Devils had three perfect wrestlers as Jevyn Pratt (126), Tanner May (182) and Jon Racheter (220) finished 5-0.

Ottawa-Glandorf defeated Rossford (36-33) and Bluffton (47-22) while falling to Fairview (53-19), Carey and Napoleon (55-21).

Daniel Beemer (182) and Tyler Ebbeskotte (195) split time on the mats and both posted 3-0 records to lead the Titans.

Bluffton lost to Findlay, Bellevue (45-24) and North Canton Hoover (56-18). The Pirates knocked off Arcadia (42-36) before dropping its finale to Ottawa-Glandorf.

Deandre Nasser (220) was 5-0 to lead the Pirates.

Arcadia fell to Medina (67-12), Sandusky (69-6) and Wapakoneta (53-30) in its preliminary matches. The Redskins finished with a 42-36 loss to Bluffton and a 54-24 defeat to Rossford.

Jordan Marczak (106) was 4-1 and John Hill (285) 3-2 for the Redskins.
