HOUGHTON, Mich. — Michigan Tech made five straight shots to end the third quarter on an 11-0 run and turn a three-point game into a 49-35 margin and hand the University of Findlay women’s basketball team a 61-47 loss in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Saturday in the SDC Wood Gym.

The Oilers (5-7, 1-5 GLIAC) stood toe-to-toe with Michigan Tech in the first half, trading six lead changes to trail only 31-28 at the break.

UF even led 32-31 early in the third quarter but went without a field goal for over four minutes of play.

Meanwhile, the Huskies worked up a 38-32 lead before Findlay’s Karli Bonar cut it in half with a 3-pointer.

Right as Michigan Tech caught fire, the Oilers went cold.

UF missed its final five shots of the third quarter and only made one field goal in the first five minutes of the fourth as the margin ballooned to 20 points.

Haley Horstman had 14 points but was the only UF player to reach double figures. Lynsey Englebrecht hit three 3-pointers off the bench for nine points.

UF shot 33 percent (17 of 51) but went 6 of 26 in the second half.

The Oilers have averaged just 53.3 points in conference play, only topping the 60-point mark once, and are shooting 38.4 percent (126 of 328).

Michigan Tech’s Morgan Anderson led all players with 16 points.
