Austin May threw three second-quarter touchdowns, two to Will Poling, and Liberty-Benton shut out its fourth opponent in five games, blanking Arlington 40-0 in Blanchard Valley Conference football Friday night.

The victory continues L-Bs march toward a season-ending BVC showdown against McComb. The Eagles climbed to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the conference Friday night, while McComb was manhandling Van Buren 42-7 and improved to 7-1, 6-0.

Liberty-Benton will host McComb in the season finale on Oct. 27, but the Eagles first travel to Hopewell-Loudon next Friday.

May was 15 of 23 passing for 236 yards and two interceptions. He and Poling hooked up for scoring passes of 5 and 28 yards and May also threw a TD pass, covering 66 yards, to Conor Greer.

Marshall Rose, who had 70 yards rushing on 12 carries for the Eagles, scored on runs of 3 and 4 yards.

While L-B netted 154 yards on the ground, Arlingtons Devin Plunkett bettered that with a 21-carry, 162-yard performance.
