NORTH CANTON — Behind career nights from Carey grad Shelby Kin and New Riegel grad Kara Scherger, the University of Findlay held off Walsh for a 25-21, 14-25, 19-25, 25-14, 15-9 Great Midwest Athletic Conference volleyball victory at the Cecchini Center in North Canton on Saturday.
The Oilers improved to 20-4 overall, 11-1 in the GMAC while the Cavaliers are 15-8, 8-4.
Kin pumped in a career-high 16 kills while making only two errors in 25 chances (.560).
She bested her previous mark of 14 kills in a four-set win over Gannon on Sept. 9.
Meanwhile, Scherger recorded a match-high 31 digs — the third-best single match total in UF history. She already owned the previous third (29) and fourth (28) highest totals.
Also for UF, Amanda Winner and Izzy Murphy both added 10 kills while Molly Hammersmith and Madison Moore put in nine kills apiece. Hailee Olson contributed 50 assists for the Oilers.
Men’s Soccer wins 4-0
The University of Findlay men’s soccer team didn’t allow a single shot on goal en route to topping Kentucky Wesleyan 4-0 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play Saturday at DeHaven Field.
Josh Dickinson, Bailey Crawford and Yardley Gonzalez all scored in the first half and Peyton Schroeder tacked on a goal for good measure with 8 minutes remaining. The Oilers (12-4, 11-2 GMAC) registered 21 shots on goal.
The Panthers fell to 1-12-1, 1-11-1.

Kleis lifts women’s soccer
Fittingly enough, it was University of Findlay senior Jensen Kleis who scored the game-winning goal on senior day to lift the Oilers to a 2-1 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday at DeHaven Field.
Findlay improved to 5-11-1 overall, 4-8-1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
Kleis’ unassisted goal at the 83:39 mark broke a near 60-minute scoreless stretch between the teams.
Ashley Rings had UF’s first goal, scoring off a corner kick just 9:08 in.
Breigh Haase scored the only goal for Kentucky Wesleyan (5-8-1, 5-7-1).

INDIANAPOLIS — University of Findlay men and women’s swimming and diving teams combined for just three event victories in getting swept by the University of Indianapolis on Saturday.
The men’s team lost 180-66 and the women 169-77.
Senior Janko Radmanovic scored the only two wins for the men’s team. He captured the 50-yard free style in 21.17 and the 100 free in 46.92.
Freshman Sarah Miles won the 200 backstroke in 2:08.62 for the only victory on the women’s side.
