Findlay High School’s baseball team erupted for its most productive game of the season on Friday, and the Trojans needed every single run they could manufacture in outlasting Toledo Whitmer, 15-13 in a Three Rivers Athletic Conference slugfest at the FHS Diamond.

Findlay used four-run rallies in the first and third innings to build an 11-3 lead. The Trojans eventually pushed the lead to 15-6 after five innings, then held on as Whitmer, which took advantage of seven Findlay errors, rallied for four runs in top of the sixth inning and three more in the seventh.

Pat Dillon went the first four innings to earn the win. The sophmore pitcher/third baseman also had three hits.

Nate Miller had a double and two singles, Nick Kidwell had two hits, including a two-run triple in the fifth inning, and Drew Parish had RBI singles in the first and second innings when Findlay jumped to a 7-3 lead.

WHITEHOUSE — Findlay High’s boys tennis team swept the singles matches — some close, some not — in posting a 3-2 win over Anthony Wayne on Friday in a second-round match of the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association team tournament.

Findlay’s Drew Swisher and Logan Tichenor dropped just three games each in winning their single matches. Swisher beat Chris Huffman 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles match, and Tichenor (No. 2) rolled past Anthony Wayne’s Austin Swiger 6-3, 6-0.

Ethan Heidepriem clinched the win with a clutch 7-5, 6-3 win over Carter McKee at No. 3 singles.

Anthony Wayne (5-3) took both doubles matches in tough three-set battles. At. No. 1, Sam Reed and Raymond Self rallied past Alec Kagy and Sam Giedeman 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. At No. 2 Keeghan Sehnert and Connor Woodward beat Blake Gray and Evan Gephart 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.

Friday’s win upped Findlay’s record to 6-2 and earned the Trojans a spot Tuesday’s regional semifinals at Toledo Whitmer. Findlay will face the winner of the quarterfinal match between Sylvania Southview and Toledo St. Francis.

Findlay was scheduled to take part in the Norwalk Invitational today. But for the second time this season, that event has been cancelled due to the weather.
