OXFORD — Dequan Lovell and George Effah both won individual championships to lead the University of Findlay track and field teams at Saturday’s Miami University Invitational.

Lovell won a pair of men’s events for the Oilers as he swept the shot put with a toss of 16.79 meters and the discus with a throw of 49.80 meters.

Effah’s victory came in the 200-meter dash as he crossed the finish line in a time of 22.46 seconds.

The best UF finish in the women’s meet came from Milani Glass. She was second in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.23 seconds.

Lacrosse whips Ursuline

PEPPER PIKE — The University of Findlay women’s lacrosse team built a commanding 13-0 haltime lead on its way to whipping Ursuline College 18-2 in Saturday’s Great Midwest Athletic Conference match.

With the win, the Oilers improved to 10-3 overall and 6-2 in the GMAC. The Arrows fell to 4-7 and 2-4.

Ciara Burud scored four goals with two assists, Allison Kelly recorded three goals with an assist and Olivia Sherman also added three goals to lead the Oilers.

Jordan Reineke, Lexi Miller (1 assist) and Hannah Peebles each scored two goals. Sandra Byerly and Emma Spellman added single tallies for the Oilers.

Findlay goalkeeper Brooke Eicher recorded eight saves.
