
Liberty-Benton’s boys soccer team scored three goals in the first nine minutes Thursday before Upper Sandusky clawed its way back for a 4-4 tie in a North Central Ohio Soccer Association match.
Lucas Mattingly got the Eagles (2-2-1 overall, 1-0-1 NCOSA) on the board with an unassisted goal just 28 seconds into the match. Trent Ward added another 2:16 later before Mattingly made it 3-0 with his second goal of the contest off an assist from Noah Aschemeier.
The Rams (2-5-1, 0-1-1) cut the deficit to 3-2 by halftime as Jaidyn Thiel scored on an assist by Gabe Baker and Ross Swinehart added a score after a Quinten Voorhees assist.
Aschemeier got a goal of his own for the Eagles on Cameron Schroeder’s assist with 6:33 remaining in the match to push Liberty-Benton’s lead to 4-2.
Jaidyn Theil got one back from for Upper Sandusky 23 seconds late and tied the contest with just 1:44 to play on an assist from Luke Amert.
Liberty-Benton finished with a 17-4 edge in shots. Upper Sandusky goalkeeper Anson Hill recorded 13 saves while Andrew Thomas finished with two saves for Upper Sandusky.

CONTINENTAL — Continental outshot Fort Jennings 19-0 Thursday and defeated the Musketeers 3-0 in a Putnam County League boys game.
Cole Bowers scored in the first half for the Pirates, and Konnor Okuley and Mitchell Coleman added second-half tallies. Konnor Okuley, Westin Okuley and Noah Becher had assists.
Evan Hoersten made 16 saves for Fort Jennings.

VAN BUREN — Hunter Stone had two goals and an assist, Nick McCracken had a goal and two assists, and James Koehler scored a goal with an assist as Van Buren shut out Miller City 7-0 in a nonconference boys soccer game.
Nate Gregory also scored for Van Buren (4-1), and the Black Knights were the beneficiaries of two Miller City (1-6) own goals. Saige Warren made six saves in recording the shutout.
Adam Schermer had eight saves for Miller City.

UPPER SANDUSKY — Alexis Rickenbacher had a hat trick Thursday as Liberty-Benton blanked Upper Sandusky 8-0 in a North Central Ohio Soccer Association girls game.
Savanah Richards had two goals and an assists, and Lexi Nagy scored a goal with two assists for the Eagles (5-0, 2-0 NCOSA). Maya Rickle and Lexi Hendel also scored for L-B, and Sophie Aschemeier had two saves in posting the shutout.
Cortni Brown had 20 saves for Upper Sandusky (3-5, 0-2 NCOSA).
