Shannon Marsh struck with a goal just 2:22 in and the University of Findlay women’s soccer team was on its way to a 3-1 win over Ursuline in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play at DeHaven Field on Thursday.
Karleigh Clare added another unassisted goal 10:13 later to give the Oilers (2-0-1, 1-0-1 GMAC) a 2-0 halftime edge.
The Arrows fell to 2-1 overall, 1-1 in league play.
Olivia Frank scored off a Claire Lasceski assist in the second half for UF which held a 17-6 edge in shots.
Findlay goalkeeper Anna Money made three saves, allowing one goal to Haley Knox.
Soccer team loses
SALEM, W. Va. — The University of Findlay men’s soccer team scored their first goal of the season in three matches but fell 2-1 to Salem International in nonleague play Thursday.
The Oilers (0-3), victims of shutout losses to Indianapolis (4-0) and California (Pa.) (1-0), didn’t strike until the 64th minute when Josh Hales scored unassisted.
It cut their deficit down to 2-1, though neither team scored the rest of the way.
Jordan Lau and Federico Toschi each scored for the Tigers (2-3) who outshot the Oilers 11-10.
