Three area schools will be hosting cross country invitationals, beginning today as Riverdale welcomes 16 schools for the Riverdale Invitational.

Ada, Allen East, Bluffton, Carey, Cory-Rawson, Elmwood, Hardin Northern, Hopewell-Loudon, Kenton, McComb, North Baltimore, Riverdale, Upper Scioto Valley, Van Buren, Waynesfield-Goshen and Upper Sandusky are scheduled to compete in the event.

The day starts with the girls and boys elementary races at 4 and 4:30 p.m., respectively. The junior high girls (5 p.m.) and boys (5:25 p.m.) will follow with the varsity girls (5:45 p.m.) and varsity boys (6:15 p.m.) races wrapping up the action.

Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students.

Lakota and Ottawa-Glandorf will host meets on Saturday.

Lakota’s Myron Cline Invitational begins at 8:30 a.m. with an adult 5,000-meter race.

The Division III boys (9:30 a.m.) and girls (10:10 a.m.) kick off the scholastic races.

The junior high boys (10:50 a.m.) and girls (11:20 a.m.) races are next followed by the Division I-II boys (11:50 a.m.) and girls (12:30 p.m.) races.

Four elementary races will wrap up the day, beginning at 1 p.m.

Fostoria’s boys will compete in the Division I-II race while Tiffin Calvert, Carey, Elmwood, Fostoria’s girls, Hopewell-Loudon, Lakota, Liberty-Benton, Mohawk, New Riegel, North Baltimore, Old Fort, Riverdale and Van Buren will be among the teams set to compete in the Division III races.

The Ottawa-Glandorf Blue and Gold Invitational will begin at 9 a.m. with the boys Blue Division race at Ottawa’s Memorial Park.

The boys Gold Division race is at 9:30 a.m. followed by the girls Blue Division (10 a.m.), girls Gold Division (10:40 a.m.), junior high girls (11:15 a.m.) and junior high boys (11:45 a.m.) races.

Bluffton and Ottawa-Glandorf will be among the 19 teams in the Blue Division.

Kalida, Leipsic, McComb, Ottoville and Pandora-Gilboa will run in the 19-team Gold Division races.
