OWENSBORO, Ky. — Findlay High grad Taylor Miles scored just 2:42 in for the University of Findlay men’s soccer team which eventually rolled past Kentucky Wesleyan for a 4-1 Great Midwest Athletic Conference victory.
Miles, a true freshman, scored his second career goal in as many contests.
UF’s Matthew Spangler scored at the 52nd minute of the second half but was quickly answered by KWC’s Julian Gonzalez six minutes later to pull within 2-1.
Josh Burton and Joey Buscani put the match away for the Oilers (2-3, 2-0 GMAC) with goals in the 65th and 84th minutes.
The Panthers, who scored on their only shot on goal, fell to 1-4, 0-3 in the GMAC.
Women’s soccer rolls
OWENSBORO, Ky. — Shannon Marsh and Megan Kupetz each scored two goals in the University of Findlay womens soccer team’s 4-0 win over Kentucky Wesleyan in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play Thursday.
Marsh scored the first two goals for the Oilers (4-0-1, 3-0-1 GMAC), the second coming at the 47:44 mark in the second half.
Kupetz tacked on two more in the 75th and 81st minutes.
UF goalkeeper Anna Money (3-0-1) saved all six shots she faced.
Karleigh Clare, Olivia Frank and Madison VanCucha each had an assist for the Oilers.
The Panthers fell to 1-3-1, 1-2-1 in league play.
