Findlay High goalie Kevin Kuhn pitched a second-half shutout and the Trojans got excellent offensive balance over the final 40 minutes of play in chalking up a 4-1 boys soccer win over Springfield on Thurday in a nonleague match at Elmer Graham Stadium.

Findlay’s Jacob Gangle and Springfield’s Trevor Tabb traded unassisted goals in the first half.

Findlay controlled the game from there, with Ryan Montooth scoring on an assist from Carson Dale to break the deadlock early in the second half. Logan Johnson scored to put the Trojans up 3-1, and Trent Land converted an assist from Andrew Allsop for an insurance goal.

Findlay won its third straight, ran its unbeaten string to four consecutive matches and improved to 5-4-1 overall. Kuhn made two saves in goal; Springfield’s Carson Tyler had 10 saves for the Blue Devils (5-7-0).

Brady Shenise spearheaded Findlay’s defense with 20 intercepts and seven steals. Nolan Clouse had 11 intercepts and three steals and Devin Snyder 10 intercepts and four steals.

BLUFFTON — Riverdale struck first but Bluffton scored three unanswered to earn a 3-1 nonleague boys soccer win Thursday.

Jon Shriner scored the first two Bluffton goals, one in each half, to give his team a 2-1 lead. Andrew Heldman put the game away for the Pirates (6-0-2) with a goal off a Tayton Kleman assist.

Drew Frey had the lone goal for the Falcons (3-4-2).

VAN BUREN — Hunter Stone scored a pair of goals and just one save was required of goalkeeper Saige Warren as Van Buren handled Ada 3-0 on Thursday in a North Central Ohio Soccer Association boys match.

Thomas Piccirillo found the net and Brady Losiewicz contributed a pair of assists for the Black Knights as they improved 8-1 overall and 2-0 in the NCOSA.

Drew Hadley stopped eight shots in goal from the Bulldogs (5-3, 1-1 NCOSA).

LIMA — Lima Shawnee’s Brayden Ward netted the only goal of the game Thursday as the Indians defeated Ottawa-Glandorf 1-0 in a Western Buckeye League boys soccer game.

Ethan Alt recorded nine saves for Ottawa-Glandorf 7-2-1, 3-2 WBL).

Landon Hoehn had three saves for Lima Shawnee (9-1-1, 5-0 WBL).
