OREGON — Megan Earhart won her finals match at No. 3 singles to lead the Trojans with a third-place finish on the final day of the Three Rivers Athletic Conference girls tennis tournament Saturday at Oregon Clay.
Earhart battled through a tough match with Toledo St. Ursula’s Tegan McCready to win 7-6 (9), 6-4 in the consolation final.
The Trojans’ Maggie McGhee and Izzy Zalat had the next-best showing as they were fourth at No. 2 doubles. McGhee and Zalat dropped a 7-5, 6-7 (4), 6-4 decision to Toledo Central Catholic’s Molly Hunter and Molly Mattimoe.
Findlay’s No. 1 doubles team of Katelynn Coleman and Kaylor Stocker dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision to Oregon Clay’s Macy Burgess and Lauren Wells to end up in fifth place.
Findlay also got a fifth-place effort from No. 1 singles player Lauren Spaeth as she dropped a 6-0, 6-1 match to Toledo Whitmer’s Amy Kimura.
Becca Mathews was sixth in the No. 2 singles spot, falling to Toledo Whitmer’s Maddie Terry 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (4).
In the TRAC tournament, Toledo Central Catholic edged Toledo Notre Dame 37-35 for first place. Toledo St. Ursula (27) was third followed by Oregon Clay (24), Findlay (22), Fremont Ross (16), Toledo Whitmer (13) and Lima Senior (6).
The Irish also won the overall TRAC title, which is a combination of the school’s seven league matches and tournament finishes, with 28 points.
Toledo Notre Dame (24), Toledo St. Ursula (20) and Clay (14) held down the next three spots as Findlay moved up a spot in the TRAC standings to fifth with 12 points. Fremont Ross (10), Toledo Whitmer (4) and Lima Senior (0) brought up the rear.
Findlay is back in action Tuesday when it travels to Ottawa-Glandorf for a nonconference match.
