INDIANAPOLIS — The University of Findlay volleyball finished 1-2 for the weekend as it dropped a 21-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-19 decision to Illinois-Springfield on the final day of the Midwest Regional Crossover at the University of Indianapolis.

Amanda Winner and Izzy Murphy led the Oilers (16-5) with 20 and 19 kills respectively.

Shelby Kin (Carey) recorded eight kills while Madison Moore added six. Setter Hailee Olson recorded 50 assists against the Prairie Stars.

Kara Scherger (New Riegel) led the team defensively with 18 digs, while Ally Duncan recorded 12 digs.

The Oilers will be back in action at home Friday at 7 p.m. against Cedarville.

Women’s soccer rallies

Megan Kupetz scored twice late in the second half as the University of Findlay’s women’s soccer team held off Tiffin 3-2 in Saturday’s Great Midwest Athletic Conference match.

Paige Casto scored early into the second half for the game’s first goal for the Oilers (8-2-2, 7-2-2 GMAC), who doubled up Tiffin 18-9 in shots on goal. Anna Money saved four of six shots on frame.

Allie McCabe scored twice for the Dragons (2-12-1, 2-8-1), her last goal coming in the 86th minute to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Men’s soccer loses

Josh Burton and Stephen Psyhogios scored first-half goals to lead Tiffin to a 2-0 Great Midwest Athletic Conference win against the University of Findlay at DeHaven Field.

Josh Burton was credited with an assist on Psyhogios’ goal.

Tiffin (10-4, 8-3 GMAC) had a 14-10 edge in shots. Nathan Sier recorded five saves for the Oilers (4-10, 4-7) while Cary Wilson had three saves and Dylan Morris one for the Dragons.
