BLUFFTON — Manchester’s Dillon Nelson had a pair of pick-sixes, including the go-ahead fourth-quarter touchdown, to rally the Spartan’s past Bluffton University 21-17 in Saturday’s Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference game.

Nelson got Manchester (3-4, 3-2 HCAC) on the board with a 40-yard interception return in the second quarter to tie the game at 7-7. His 43-yard pick-six with 7:07 left in the fourth quarter gave Manchester its final margin.

Bluffton’s (1-6, 1-4) defense had a key play take a fourth-quarter lead when Isaac Zickafoose, who added eight tackles, scooped up a fumble and went 80 yards for a score and a 17-14 lead.

Plummie Gardner found Caleb Heilman for a 10-yard touchdown late in the first quarter for the Beavers’ only offensive touchdown.

ADA — After allowing a combined 54 points through the season’s first four weeks, Ohio Northern allowed 40-plus points for the second week in a row in falling 49-17 to nationally-ranked John Carroll in Saturday’s Ohio Athletic Conference game.

The Polar Bears (4-2, 3-2 OAC) have lost two straight after beginning the season 4-0.

AJ Marks broke the scoreless tie with a second-quarter touchdown run to put ONU ahead 7-0. Anthony McFadden, later in the quarter, found Anthony Amison for a 71-yard TD to keep the game tied at 14-14.

Michael Canganelli spearheaded the Blue Streaks’ (5-1, 4-1 OAC) offense by scoring his three touchdowns inside the 10, racking up 109 yards on 25 carries. Quarterback Anthony Moeglin threw for 254 yards and a pair of scores.
