PERRYSBURG — Three area wrestlers reached the semifinal round on the first day of the Perrysburg Invitational Tournament Friday night.

Elmwood’s Gunner Endicott, Lakota’s Trevor Franks and Van Buren’s Kaleb Snodgrass all won their quarterfinal matches to reach today’s 10 a.m. semifinals.

Endicott pinned Tinora’s Aaron Short in 3:22 in the 145-pound quarterfinals to improve his record to 11-3. He’ll face top-seeded Dustin Morgillo of Genoa in the semis.

Franks, the only wrestler entered in the tournament for Lakota, is now 13-0 after pinning Firelands’ Bryce Keown in :54 seconds in the 160-pound quarterfinals. Franks will take on second-seeded Drew Newton of Perrysburg to earn a spot in the final.

Snodgrass, meanwhile, edged Elmwood’s Will Bechstein 4-2 to advance. He’ll take a 13-3 record into his 220-pound semifinal bout against Delta’s Austin Kohlhofer.

Wauseon has a 1191/2-1131/2 margin over Genoa to lead the 35-team field. Elmwood (611/2 ) is eighth, Van Buren (32) is 19th, Mohawk (27) is tied for 23rd place and Lakota (15) is 32nd.
