Kalida’s Josh Verhoff was a double winner to lead area athletes at Sunday’s Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches’ Northwest District indoor track and field championships at the University of Findlay’s Koehler Center.

Verhoff set a meet record in the 60-meter dash (7.07) and won the 200 in 22.98 seconds.

Van Buren’s Tyler Arbaugh won the weight throw with a toss of 68-8.

Leipsic athletes won three field events in the girls meet.

Claire Rigel captured the shot put with a throw of 37-9, Ella Rigel added a win in the weight throw (40-11) and Carlee Siefker captured the triple jump (32-5½ to lead the Vikings.

Vanlue’s Bethany Smith took the 400 with a meet-record time of 1:03.2. Kalida’s Hannah Berheide won the 200 (27.99) and Columbus Grove’s Alyssa Ellerbrock won a championship in the 3,200 (12:13.32).

Cory-Rawson’s Grace Roebke, Madison Risner and Hannah and Octavia Hassan teamed up to win the 1,600 relay (4:54.52).

Watkins doubles up

TIFFIN — Arcadia’s Samantha Watkins swept the throws to lead area competitors at Sunday’s Tiffin High School Open at Tiffin University.

Watkins claimed the girls shot put with a toss of 36-2½ and won the weight throw with a heave of 35-1¼.

The Redskins’ Olivia Golden ran to a win in the 200 (28.22) while Lakota’s Reilly Cozette crossed the finish line first in the 3,200 with a time of 12:17.6.

In the boys meet, Old Fort’s Ben Wasserman won the 60hurdles (10.63).
