The University of Findlay’s Hayley Robinett and Jenna Shipman earned a pair of first-place finishes to lead the Oilers’ indoor track and field teams at Saturday’s Findlay Open at the Malcolm Athletic Center.

Robinett won the women’s 800 (2:18.09) and teamed with Shipman, Aubreah Manns (Riverdale) and Semoy Hemmings to win the 1,600 relay (4:01.63).

Shipman got a second victory in the long jump (17-7½).

Meadow Cromer won the pole vault (11-2½) and Hannah Hahler captured the women’s weight throw (50-11½).

Hemmings was second in the 200 (25.96), Gabrielle Lawrence was runner up in the 3,000 (10:52.99) and Hahler added a third place in the shot put (46-8¾).

Ashland’s Carrol Pauley (Riverdale) was second in the weight throw (50-5 ¼).

In the men’s meet, UF swept the top three spots in the shot put with junior Eldred Henry setting a school and Great Midwest Athletic Conference record with a winning mark of 63-9½. Liberty-Benton grad Austin Combs (58-10) and Dequan Lovell (53-5¾) were next in the event.

Lovell (62-7¾), Henry (56-9¼) and Combs (55-¼) went 1-2-3 in the weight throw as well.

Josh Steinbrunner was second in the 60 hurdles (8.54). The Oilers’ Gabe Makin was second in the pole vault (15-¼) and Ty Gleason (Liberty-Benton) was third in the 3,000 (8:54.4).

Bluffton graduate Trevor Bassitt recorded a pair of wins for Ashland University, winning the 60 hurdles (8.07) and 300 (35.75).

Fostoria St. Wendelin grad Keith Reiter, currently Tiffin University’s vertical jumps coach, won the pole vault (15-6).

Roughnecks winless

KENOSHA, Wis. — Two University of Findlay wrestlers won two matches each as the Roughnecks dropped all three of the team’s dual matches at Saturday’s Ranger Duals at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

James Wimer (157) was 2-1 and Devin Rogers (149) finished 2-0 as the Roughnecks opened the dual-meet portion of its schedule with losses to Wisconsin-Parkside (34-12), McKendree (27-12) and Maryville (25-20).

Josh Wimer (149 pounds), Doug Rojem (165), Ryan Skonieczny (141), Zach Collins (125), Armani Robinson (184), Keigan Yuhas (197) and Nate Vandermeer (174) also won matches for UF.
