ARLINGTON — Ryan Metzger led a trio of Arlington players in double figures as the Red Devils kept pace in the Blanchard Valley Conference with a 59-34 win over Arcadia on Friday.

Metzger’s 17 points led all players, while Ivan Berry scored 12 with eight rebounds and Jaret Vermillion buried three 3-pointers with 11 points for Arlington (15-4, 9-1 BVC).

The Red Devils remained tied with Van Buren — at 9-1 — atop the BVC standings with one conference game remaining. Arlington plays Leipsic on Thursday, while the Knights get Arcadia next Friday.

Vermillion also chipped in five assists and Jacob Russell led with six dimes for Arlington.

Cole Coppus popped in 11 points to lead the Redskins (3-17, 2-8). Eli Palmer scored seven with five boards and three blocks.

Schroeder had nine rebounds and Durfey five assists for McComb (8-9, 7-3 BVC). Tristan Sherick chipped in eight points and four steals.

Travis Milligan had 14 points to pace Hopewell-Loudon (11-9, 5-5 BVC). Carter Coffman scored eight points.

VANLUE — Led by Levi Gazarek’s 39 points Friday night North Baltimore held off Vanlue 80-69 in Blanchard Valley Conference boys basketball.

Gazarek drained 10 field goals inside the arc, added three from beyond it and had 10 free throws as well to account for his 39 points.

Alex Snyder and Jaden Bucher each added 11 points for the Tigers (3-16, 1-9 BVC).

Vanlue (2-17, 0-10) had a three-pronged offensive attack led by Joey Bonham’s 22 points, five steals and six assists. Jared Kloepfer contributed 15 points and Jaren Kloepfer 13. Xavier Temple (11) and Braydon Saltzman (10) were both double-figure rebounders.

Liberty-Benton needed a 21-point fourth quarter to hold off Leipsic 56-44 in a Blanchard Valley Conference boys basketball game Friday night.

The Eagles (6-14, 4-6 BVC) led 35-31 after three quarters before outscoring the Vikings (9-10, 6-4) 21-13 to secure the victory.

Josh Reindel led L-B with 21 points, while Cole Bush had 13. Mehkei Jenkins provided seven rebounds, two steals and seven assists.

Cole Rieman and Evan Schroeder each had 13 points to lead Leipsic which also got nine points and seven rebounds from Tyler Hiegel.
