MARION — Findlay backed the overpowering pitching of junior right-handers Renea McDonald and Kallie Kramer with plenty of offense in opening the 2019 softball season with a doubleheader sweep of Marion Harding on Saturday

McDonald was nearly perfect in the opener, allowing no hits, walking one and striking out 10 in Findlay’s 10-0 win. Kramer allowed just three hits in the second game, another five-inning romp with a 14-1 final score.

Kramer also starred at the plate with an RBI double in the first game and a double, three singles and two RBIs in the second. Leea Ibarra (3-1B, 2B) and Sammy Ricard (2-2B, 2-1B) had four hits on the day and Paige Steinke (3-1B, 2 RBI) had three.

BELLEVUE — Upper Sandusky outhit Bellevue in each game but the Rams lost fell 5-2 and 7-3 in a nonleague softball doubleheader on Saturday.

Alivia Oney went 2 for 4 in both games for Upper Sandusky (0-2) while Jade Holman had five hits in eight at-bats, including a 4 for 4 performance in the second game.

Bellevue, which never trailed in either game, plated five runs, two earned, on just two hits and two walks off Oney in the first game before getting outhit 10-8 in the second.

MOUNT VICTORY — Ridgemont racked up a dozen hits and plenty more runs in sweeping Vanlue 17-0 and 18-0 in a pair of nonleague five-inning softball encounters on Saturday.

The Wildcats (0-2) registered only six hits by six players over the two games.

Autumn Manns racked up a team-high seven RBIs on the day for the Golden Gophers (2-0).
