McCOMB — McComb’s Tanner Schroeder won the pitchers duel against Kalida’s Josh Recker as the Panthers delivered the previously unbeaten Wildcats their first loss 1-0 in nonleague baseball play Saturday.
Schroeder threw a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts to five walks as the Panthers improved to 8-3 overall. He also drove in the game’s only run.
Recker allowed the one run on three hits with nine strikeouts to one walk for Kalida (7-1).

Already up 6-3, Liberty-Benton delivered the knockout blow with eight runs in the fourth inning to power past Lima Central Catholic 14-5 in Saturday’s nonconference baseball game.
The middle of the Liberty-Benton lineup did much of the damage. Griffin Snider (RBI) hit two doubles with a single and Race Gorrell (3 RBIs) added two singles and a double. Elliott Veenstra added three singles while Michael Erdeljac (RBI) and Cole Busch (3 RBIs) both doubled and singled for the Eagles (12-3).
Thomas doubled and singled for the Thunderbirds.
Anthony Wolford allowed 5 runs, four earned, through 41/3 innings to get the win.

Trae Schlagbaum went 51/3 innings, allowing two runs on two eights with two walks and eight strikeouts to get the win. He also doubled twice and singled.

TOLEDO — Brady Hauenstein fired a 5-inning no hitter in the first game as Columbus Grove cruised to a sweep in a nonconference baseball doubleheader with Maumee Valley Country Day on Saturday.
In Grove’s 26-2 win in the opener, Hauenstein fanned eight batters and helped his own cause by going 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs.
The Bulldogs (6-3) banged out 27 hits on the day, including 13 in a 13-6 win against the Hawks in the nightcap.
Kurt Griffith won the second game as he allowed two earned runs on five hits in seven innings while striking out eight.
WAUSEON — Wauseon’s nine-run fifth inning spelled disaster for Ottawa-Glandorf’s baseball team as the Titans fell to the Indians 15-11 in nonconference action on Saturday.
The loss spoiled a big day at the plate by Ottawa-Glandorf’s Logan Miller. Miller doubled twice, singled twice and drove in five runs.
Ethan Alt tripled and doubled driving in a pair of runs for the Titans (5-7).
Joey Shema had a double, single and three RBIs for Wauseon (6-6).

Landon Blankenship pitched a strong game in the first contest to get the win. Phillip Coulson tripled and doubled for the Bulldogs.
Quinn Sanders led the Rams (3-9) with a double and single.
Brandon Hull doubled, singled and drove in five runs as Ada banged out 14 hits in the a 20-14 slugfest in the nightcap.
Zach Swaney doubled with two singles and Dylan East doubled and singled for the Bulldogs.
Wes Lowery had two doubles, two singles and four RBIs and J.J. Overs hit for the cycle with a home run, triple, double and single, driving in five runs for Upper Scioto Valley.

LEIPSIC — Leipsic rallied from a heartbreaking opening-game loss to Delphos Jefferson for a split of Saturday’s nonconference baseball doubleheader.
Delphos Jefferson (7-6) scored three times in the top of the seventh inning to knock off Leipsic 4-2 in the opener. Tyler Hiegel tripled for the Vikings (7-5).
Leipsic made up for it in the nightcap, scoring 10 runs in the first inning on its way to a 15-8 win.
Tyler Schroeder got the win for Leipsic. Drew Liffick doubled and singled and Hiegel and Cole Rieman both stroked a pair of singles for the Vikings. Jacob Simmons doubled and singled for Delphos Jefferson.
