ADA — Ohio Northern University senior infielder Hailee Loughman and freshman pitcher Maddie Anderson swept the Ohio Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors in softball.
Loughman was named the OAC Hitter of the Week while Anderson garnered OAC Pitcher of the Week honors after leading the Polar Bears to an undefeated 4-0 record last week over No. 24 Baldwin Wallace and John Carroll.
Loughman led Ohio Northern with a .615 batting average, eight hits, two doubles, a .667 on-base percentage, and a .769 slugging percentage over the four-game stretch. In addition, she added two walks, three RBI, and ended second on the team with five runs scored.
Anderson had a stellar week in the pitching circle, surrendering just one earned run in 10 innings pitched to post a 2-0 record. The Akron native tossed a complete game in the 6-1 nightcap win against the Yellow Jackets while pitching 32/3 innings in relief for the nightcap victory against John Carroll.
Separately, junior goalkeeper Kelli Hill was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.
Last week, the Worthington native rewrote the school record books with a program-best 22 saves on a .629 save percentage in a 13-7 loss to Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday. She went on to secure 14 saves on a .778 save percentage in an 18-4 triumph over Marietta, guiding ONU to a 1-1 record on the week.
Also, junior Mackenzie Wills (Ada) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Last week, Wills posted a perfect 10-0 overall record, leading the Polar Bears to an undefeated 5-0 mark against Baldwin Wallace, Franciscan, Muskingum, Marietta, and Earlham (Ind.).
