NEW RIEGEL — New Riegel ace Kayleigh Lininger fired a two-hitter on Tuesday when the Blue Jackets shut out Arlington 7-0 in a nonconference softball tilt.

Lininger struck out seven and walked four. Kristin Coleman went 2 for 3 with a home run and a double and 2 RBIs, while Jordan Hohman went 3 for 4 with a double and also drove in a pair of runs for New Riegel (11-3).

Amelia Durliat took the loss for Arlington (5-6) allowing four runs on three hits in one inning of work before giving way to Abbie Sheets, who worked five innings in relief. Sheets and Lindsay Dodds singled for Arlington’s only hits.

ARCADIA — Marissa Claburn delivered a pinch-hit three-run homer in the top of the seventh inning to cap Lakota’s six-run rally in a 10-7 nonconference girls softball victory over Arcadia Tuesday.

The two teams were tied 4-4 before the seventh-inning explosion as the Raiders improved to 5-8 on the year.

Mekenzie Rathburn and Emylee Herr (2 RBI) also homered for Lakota.

Johnna Snow and Lyndee Ward had home runs for Arcadia (4-7) with Ward adding a single and driving in three runs. Breana Reinhart and Samantha Burnett each collected two singles.

It took 10 innings, but Liberty-Benton finally prevailed when Amber Stevens delivered a walk-off RBI single to score Jordan Snider as the Eagles edged Rossford 6-5 for a nonleague softball win Tuesday.

Winning pitcher Kiya Benschoter (2B, 2-1B, RBI) threw all 10 innings, allowing five runs on 11 hits with nine strikeouts and five walks as the Eagles improved to 6-7 overall.

Rossford (6-5) starter Megan Jarozs also went the distance, as the Eagles tagged her for 14 hits.

Cheyenne Mershman singled, double, tripled and drove in six runs for Columbus Grove (4-5, 3-0 PCL). Danielle Bame, Kam Utendorf and Jenna Hardeman all had three RBIs.

Paige Hoersten drove in two runs for Ottoville (0-8, 0-2 PCL).

VAN WERT — Bluffton’s Libby Schaadt pitched a three-hit shutout and the Pirates moved into sole possession of first plac in the Northwest Conference softball standings by beating Lincolnview 6-0 on Tuesday.

Schaadt struck out eight and scattered three base hits in upping her record to 11-1 and Bluffton’s to 13-1. The Pirates are 4-0 in the NWC and have handed three of the four one-loss NWC teams their only league loss, including Lincolnview (10-4, 2-1 NWC).

Katie Prater homered and drove in two runs for Bluffton, which put it away four runs in the top of the seventh inning. Averey Rumer, Riley Busch, Alivia Koenig (2 RBI) and Sophi Bricker also had two hits.

Clyde’s Delaney Gill tallied four hits and an RBI in the leadoff spot.

UPPER SANDUSKY — Upper Sandusky did not hit a home run in Tuesday’s Northern 10 Conference softball game against Ridgedale. But 11 of the Rams 17 hits went for extra bases as they run-ruled the Rockets 10-0.

Alivia Oney ripped four of Upper Sandusky’s 10 doubles. Oney drove in three runs and was also the winning pitcher, allowing just three hits over 42/3 innings.

Hannah McKinniss fell a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. Jenna Rodriguez (2-2B), Jenna Clary (1B, 2B, RBI) and Jordan Franz (2-1B) had two hits each as Upper (9-5, 6-1 N-10) stayed a game back of Bucyrus (9-4, 6-0) in the N-10 standings.

LIMA — Hardin Northern’s Alex Jackson and Haylie Spearman threw a combined no-hitter as the Polar Bears edged Lima Perry 4-2 for a Northwest Central Conference softball win Tuesday.

Jackson (2B, 3B, 2 RBI) went two innings, striking out three, while Spearman struck out 11 batters in the final five innings with seven walks and one run allowed as the Polar Bears improved to 6-7 overall, 3-2 in the NWCC.

Lima Perry, which led 2-0 after two innings, fell to 3-8, 1-3.

VAN WERT — Ottawa-Glandorf rallied with two runs in the top of the seventh inning and pitcher Katelyn Yoder stranded the bases loaded in the bottom of the inning as O-G beat Van Wert 5-4 in a Western Buckeye League softball game.

Yoder hit a pair of doubles at the plate, and Taylor Kuhlman had two singles and an RBI as O-G improved to 3-7, 3-2 WBL. Emma Ellerbrock and Haley Karhoff each had two singles.

Van Wert fell to 1-11, 0-5 in the league.
