Fostoria High School rallied for five runs in the top of the seventh but fell short as state-ranked Liberty-Benton held on for a 7-6 victory in the Division III district baseball quarterfinals Friday.

The Eagles (20-4), ranked No. 5 in the latest state poll, will face today’s Ottawa-Glandorf/Paulding winner in the district semifinals at 4:15 p.m. Thursday at Elida.

Winning pitcher Griffin Snider allowed three runs, two earned in five innings on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Cole Busch went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs to front L-B’s offense.

Karsen Bemis (2B) and Devin Mauricio were each 2 for 4 with an RBI as the Redmen are eliminated at 11-14.

COLDWATER — Cole Frilling hurled a two-hit shutout Friday to lead Coldwater to a 2-0 win against Van Buren in a Division III district quarterfinal baseball game.

With the win, Coldwater (21-5) advances to play Fort Recovery, a 6-4 winner in its district quarterfinal against Elmwood, in Thursday’s Division III district semifinals at Elida’s Ed Sandy Field. Van Buren bowed out of the tournament at 13-13.

Frilling fanned six batters and walked two to get the win. Cade Whitticar was the tough-luck loser for Van Buren. He allowed two runs on three hits with seven walks and three strikeouts.

Blake Jones accounted for both Van Buren hits with a pair of singles.

Coldwater’s Jacob Wenning recorded a two-run double in the bottom of the fifth for the game’s only runs.

LIMA — Tyler Lydick doubled twice driving in four runs as Findlay High School’s baseball team ripped Lima Senior 19-1 in a Three Rivers Athletic Conference baseball game, two days after the Spartans bounced the Trojans from the Division I district tournament.

Ethan Canterbury allowed one unearned run on three hits with four walks and four strikeouts in five innings to get the win.

Ryan Stillings, Phillip Bibler and Andrew Stechschulte singled twice with two RBIs for the Trojans (14-9, 9-4 TRAC).

D’Ontre Cowen, Ethan Jordan and Brayden O’Dell each singled for Lima Senior (9-15, 0-12).

ARCADIA — Riverdale hung nine runs on Arcadia in the fourth inning to get by the Redskins 11-1 in five innings for a Blanchard Valley Conference baseball win Friday.

Winning pitcher Andrew Kuenzli allowed one run on four hits with five strikeouts to two walks. He also doubled and drove in two runs for the Falcons (8-10, 4-5 BVC).

Eli Palmer doubled and had the lone RBI for the Redskins (8-14, 3-8).

SANDUSKY — Tiffin Calvert built a 12-7 lead through 41/2 innings and hung on for a 12-11 Sandusky Bay Conference River Division win against Sandusky St. Mary’s Friday at Dorn Park.

Nolan Wuescher led the Senecas (7-12 overall, 4-7 SBC River) with three singles and two RBIs. Hunter Yeakle doubled and singled with two RBIs and Quinten Ronski had a single and two RBIs.

Everett Samtag (2 RBIs) homered and tripled, James McClung (2 RBIs) stroked three singles and Will Roth and Kyle Pelz (3 RBIs) both had two singles for Sandusky St. Mary’s (10-15, 5-8).

UPPER SANDUSKY — Upper Sandusky’s Jason Holly was nearly untouchable as he fired a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts and the Rams got by Wynford 5-0 in a Division III district quartefinal baseball game Friday.

Upper Sandusky (18-7), the No. 1 seed, will meet Oak Harbor in the district semifinals 2 p.m. Thursday at Shelby High School.

Brandon Giesey doubled and tallied three RBIs for the Rams who put the game away with four runs in the sixth. Parker Frombaugh also had a two-hit game.

Josh Crall singled for the only hit for Wynford (6-17).

Losing pitcher Tyler St. Clair tallied two RBIs while Carter Taft had a hit and an RBI for the Royals (13-7).

Ryne Post doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs in the leadoff spot for Fort Recovery.

Jake Hall and Tyler Turek each had three hits for the Tigers (14-10, 10-6).
