BOWLING GREEN — The Spinazzes got the best of the Schmiedebusches on Wednesday as Ottawa-Glandorf’s doubles team of Addy and Emma Schmiedebusch lost their doubles match on the first day of the Division II district girls tennis tournament at Bowling Green State University’s Keefe Courts.
Bella and Lucia Spinazze, from Toledo Central Catholic, swept the Schmiedebusches 6-0, 6-0 in the opening round. The Toledo Central Catholic duo won their next match to advance to Saturday’s district semifinals at Port Clinton High School and earn a trip to next weekend’s Division II state tournament at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.
The top four doubles teams and top four singles players qualify for the state tournament.
