CUYAHOGA FALLS — Findlay High wrestlers Jonah Smith and Jake Noon both lost their matches Saturday on the final day of the Walsh Jesuit Ironman Tournament.

Smith finished the two-day tournament with a 4-2 record at 145 pounds, while Noon went 3-2 at 220 pounds.

In consolation matches Saturday, Gavin Quiocho (Parkersburg South, West Virginia) beat Smith 6-2. Kyonte Hamilton (Georgetown Prep School, Maryland) pinned Noon in 3:15.

Smith and Noon’s scores resulted in the Trojans finishing tied for 60th out of 111 teams with 16 points. Wyoming Seminary (Pennsylvania) won with 2341/2 points.

Goebel wins at Marengo

MARENGO — Findlay High freshman Hudson Goebel recorded four pins en route to winning the 106-pound title as the Trojans finished sixth at the Marengo Highland Kilted Classic on Saturday.

Findlay finished with 228 points, while Marysville won with 4341/2.

Goebel had a 21-second pin in the first round, received a bye in the second round and had another pin in just over a minute in the third round. In the semifinal match, he pinned Mount Vernon’s Dylan Hartman in 2:53, and in the championship match, he floored Marysville’s Ethan Skiles in 35 seconds.

A pair of Findlay wrestlers posted second-place finishes as Ethan Mitchell was runner-up in the 120-pound weight class and Max Farmer finished second at 285 pounds.

Mitchell recorded three pins in his first three matches, won a major decision 12-2 over Clyde’s Chris Oleksiak in his fourth match and lost 16-4 to South Central’s Jayden Strickland in the championship match.

Farmer went 2-1 with two pins in his first three matches, pinned Westerville South’s Ngosung Achambeng in 3:52 in his fourth match and lost the championship match 3-2 to Mount Vernon’s Nate Stradley.
