ADA — Landen Long scored 16 of his game-high 24 points in the second half as Ohio Northern University defeated Baldwin Wallace University 81-74 for an Ohio Athletic Conference men’s basketball win on Wednesday.
Thomas Phillips added 16 points while C.J. Napier had 15 points for the Polar Bears (6-8, 2-5 OAC).
Alex Nahra made 10 of 11 shots from the field en route to 21 points off the bench for the Yellow Jackets (8-6, 4-3).
ONU women go cold
BEREA — Ohio Northern University’s women’s basketball team suffered a season-worst shooting night and fell 59-52 to No. 12 Baldwin Wallace in Ohio Athletic Conference play on Wednesday.
The Polar Bears shot just 25 percent (14 of 56) overall and were even worse from 3-point range at 17.4 percent (4 of 23).
Lexi Jacobs had 14 points while Emily Mescher added 11 points and six rebounds for ONU.
The Yellow Jackets improved to 13-1 overall, 7-1 in the OAC.
BU women win
BLUFFTON — Bluffton University’s women’s basketball team took the fourth quarter 26-14 and rallied past Earlham College 70-65 for a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win on Wednesday.
Brianna Gillig posted 28 points and nine rebounds to lead the Beavers (9-5, 3-4 HCAC), while Nora Hemminger (McComb) had a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Trinity McClendon’s 21 points led Earlham (4-10, 3-4), which led 37-18 by halftime.
BU men fall short
RICHMOND, Ind. — Earlham College hit seven 3-pointers in the second half to get by Bluffton University 74-67 in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s basketball contest on Wednesday.
The Beavers fell to 7-7 overall, 3-4 in the HCAC. Dezman Brown collected 20 points, six rebounds and four assists to pace Bluffton.
Jamel Barnes hit four of Earlham’s 12 total 3-pointers en route to 16 points.
