SYLVANIA — Findlay High’s hockey team was seeded fourth and took a first round bye for the 2020 OHSAA district tournament that begins next week at Sylvania’s Tam-O-Shanter Arena.

Findlay is currently fourth in the Northwest Hockey Conference Red Division standings (6-5, 12 points) and earned the No. 4 seed for the district tournament with a 12-15-4 overall record.

The Trojans will play their first district game at 6 p.m. Feb. 22 when they face the winner of Wednesday’s first-round matchup between No. 7 Bowling Green (6-24-1) and No. 9 Toledo Whitmer (8-12).

Toledo St. Francis, which sits just ahead of Findlay in the Red Division standings (4-4, 14 points) heading into Saturday’s matchup with the Trojans at Tam-O-Shanter, was seeded No. 3 with a 12-15-1 record. The Knights open tournament play on Feb. 21 against No. 5-seed Anthony Wayne (21-6-3).

NHC Red Division co-champions Sylvania Northview (20-10, 10-2, 20 points) and Toledo St. John’s (18-12-1, 7-2, 20 points) were seeded first and second in Wednesday’s draw. In a bit of a surprise, though, both not only ended up in the same bracket, but will likely square off in a quarterfinal matchup.
