FOSTORIA — Arlington’s Zavier Thornton tallied a game-high 20 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out six assists as the Red Devils knocked off McComb 76-40 in a Division IV district boys basketball opener Tuesday at Fostoria High School.

Arlington (19-4), the No. 2 seed in the Findlay District, advanced to take on No. 7 Gibsonburg (9-13) at 6:15 p.m. Friday at Fostoria.

Bryce Gast added 18 points, while Tyson Speyer had nine points and seven rebounds for Arlington. The Red Devils led 26-8 after the first quarter.

Logan Kepling scored 12 points on four 3-pointers to lead McComb, which finished its season 0-23. Aaron Davis added 10 points and seven rebounds, while Aaron Rider had 10 boards.

Michael Kramer scored nine points for seventh-seeded Van Buren, which finished its season at 11-12. Caden Lance scored seven points.

Evan Harves led Otsego (9-14) with 18 points. Ryan Gray added 13 points. Eighth-seeded Otsego advanced to face No. 1 Evergeen (21-1) in a district quarterfinal at 6:15 p.m. Friday at Springfield.

VAN WERT — Walker Macke scored 19 points for Pandora-Gilboa on Tuesday but the Rockets fell 65-56 to Continental in a Division IV district tournament opener at Van Wert High School.

Austin Miller added 11 points for No. 9 seed Pandora-Gilboa, which ended its season at 10-12. Blake Steiner had eight points and Ryan Johnson added seven points.

Continental, the No. 11 seed, got a monster game from Mitchell Coleman who scored 27 of his game-best 34 points in the second half. The Pirates (5-18) now face No. 2 Ottoville (19-3) in a district quarterfinal at 6:15 p.m. Friday at Van Wert.

MONCLOVA — Tim Marshall flirted with a triple-double Tuesday in leading Heritage Christian to a 67-52 victory over Monclova Christian in a boys basketball game.

Marshall had 21 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists for the Minutemen (10-7). Simon Fickel added 22 points, six assists and six rebounds, and Zac Marshall scored 10 points with eight rebounds.

Josiah Baker scored 20 points and had nine rebounds for Monclova Christian.
