McCOMB — The village of McComb officially has merged its public water and wastewater department with the Northwestern Water and Sewer District.

The final transfer of assets and liabilities occurred Dec. 1 after about seven months of operations.

The village consists of 645 users. The village’s largest employers of Hearthside Foods Solutions and Crushproof Tubing are the largest utility users.

The village had its own water treatment plant, and an aging wastewater treatment plant scheduled for a $6.3 million replacement.

The Northwestern Water and Sewer District serves about 19,000 users in Wood County with water and sewer services.
