Waters rise around Findlay

FINDLAY — Findlay streets saw some flooding from Eagle Creek off of the Blanchard River Tuesday, and the river's water level rose with the persistent rain. Minor flooding was forecast for Findlay by the National Weather Service Tuesday morning until this morning. Though it rained much of the day, things cleared up by evening, and severe storms forecast for later in the day never materialized. According to its latest Tuesday update, the weather service reported Eagle Creek had reached a water stage of 10 feet, its bankfull stage. The river was expected to crest at 10.1 feet late Tuesday night, after print deadline, and was expected to fall below flood stage just after midnight. Water impacted portions of South Blanchard Street, Brookside Drive, and Fremont and Graceland streets. The Blanchard River rose along with Eagle Creek Tuesday, though no flood warning was issued by NWS. However, the weather service reported it expected the Blanchard River to crest at about 13 feet this morning. Flood stage for the Blanchard is 12 feet. Regarding excess rainwater remaining on routes today, the weather service cautions drivers not to attempt to drive through flooded roads, and to instead turn around and find an alternate path.
