Sluggers fall to Joes, then have next game rained out

Weather has created some issues for the Findlay Sluggers and Hamilton Joes this week. After Wednesday's game was suspended, the two teams were supposed to complete that game Thursday, then follow with the day's originally scheduled game. Things began as planned. In the completion of Wednesday's game, three Hamilton pitchers combined to limit the Sluggers to five hits in a 6-2 loss. But then, Mother Nature intervened, and postponed Thursday's originally scheduled game. Michael Bilo started Wednesday for the Joes and threw four innings, allowing a run on three hits. Justin Hoevel followed with four innings of two hit ball, yielding just an unearned run. Sam Pece pitched the ninth for his first save of the season. The Joes scored three runs in the second and two more in the fifth. Brett Denby singled three times, scored and drove in a pair of runs for Hamilton. Preston Lynch doubled and knocked in a pair of runs. Carson Mellott started on the mound for the Sluggers, going three innings and allowing three runs on three hits, walking one and striking out one. Offensively for the Sluggers, Findlay High graduate Andrew Stechschulte had an RBI and Brett Reed connected on two singles and scored a run. The Sluggers fell to 17-17; the Joes improved to 18-17. Flag City is scheduled to host the Xenia Scouts at 7:05 p.m. tonight at Marathon Diamonds.
