SchrierWEBDenny Schrier, age 68, of Findlay, died Friday morning, October 23, 2015 at his residence. He was born on January 28, 1947, in Findlay, Ohio to the late Elmer and Marilyn (Miller) Schrier. On November 22, 1969, he married Cynthia Skundor having been married one month short of 46 years and she survives. Other survivors include daughters: Michelle Fraley of Findlay, Kimberly (Gregory) Coldren of Findlay, and Karen (Robin) Sanderson of Garner, North Carolina; brother: Dean (Linda) Schrier of Findlay; grandchildren: Allyson Fraley, Caitlin Fraley, Jake Brock, Karlee Coldren, Parker Coldren, Cooper Coldren, Aiden Sanderson, and Brennen Sanderson; mother-in-law: Elizabeth Skundor of Findlay and several nieces and nephews. Denny graduated from Findlay High School in 1965, and in 1970 received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Findlay College and later got his Masters Degree from Bowling Green State University. He was a teacher and coach in the Findlay City Schools for 35 years and upon his retirement became a Hancock County Teachers Aide. For many years he worked in various grocery stores in the produce department. He had served in the Ohio National Guard and was an Eagle Scout. He was a member of the N.E.A. and the O.E.A. Denny was an avid sports fan in particular for the Findlay High School Trojans, the University of Findlay Oilers, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Indians, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Visitation will be held from 2-8pm on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay, where funeral services will be held at 1:30pm on Thursday, October 29, 2015. Pastor Daniel Huther will officiate and interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family encourages Ohio State attire be worn to the visitation in honor of his love for the Buckeyes. Memorials may be made to either the Findlay High School Athletic Department or University of Findlay Athletic Department.
