ARLINGTON — S. Arlene Schaaf, 81, of Arlington, died at 1:20 a.m., Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at home. She was born in Williamstown, Ohio on August 18, 1936, to the late Floyd and Sophronia (Houdeshell) Pifer. She married Joe Shaaf on March 26, 1955, and he survives.
Arlene is also survived by her four daughters: Jonna (Bruce) Alexander of Findlay, Jolene (Roger) Rausch of Jenera, Jackie (Todd) Sabbe of Arlington, Jane (John) Shami of Westlake, Ohio; 11 grandchildren: B. Ryan (Becky) Alexander, Mandy (Tim) Hodson, Lindsay (Kyle Wagner) Alexander, Raina Rausch, Levi (Carrie) Rausch, Naomi, Hanna, and Tanner Rausch, Jessica (Rick) Stoner, Tyson Sabbe, Madison Shami and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sisters: Sarah Jane Lintz and Eilene Inbody; brothers: William Pifer and James Pifer and a grandson.
Arlene was a 1954 graduate of Arlington High School. She was a member of the Arlington United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and helped with Vacation Bible School for many years. She and Joe enjoyed attending the various activities of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, December 31, 2017, at Arlington United Methodist Church with Pastor Rick Stoner officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery, Madison Township. Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m., Saturday at CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Arlington, and one hour (1-2 p.m.) Sunday prior to the service at church.
