Ida Marie Kieffer Manley, passed away on January 20, 2018. She was born in Italy to the late Warren G Kieffer and Maria Cammarata Kieffer on February 23, 1946.
After living in Italy for one month, Ida and her mother came over to the United States via boat and arrived in New York. After making their way to Ohio, Ida grew up in the Findlay area. Once her children were grown, Ida moved to Slidell, Louisiana to be closer to her mother, father, and brother living in Louisiana. She remained there for 20 years before coming back to Ohio and living in a Bluffton retirement community.
Ida loved the water. She spent many summers with her family on the Maumee (up the river). She enjoyed playing cards, going to bingo and socializing with friends and family. She was a social ‘butterfly.’
Ida was very creative and worked with her mother and father at Kieffer’s Ceramic shop in Findlay, Ohio. Ida had many jobs over the years and most of those jobs had an emphasis on food. She was happiest when she was feeding people. She was always baking treats for family, friends, and neighbors.
Ida’s favorite season was Christmas. She loved the giving season. Her favorite part of the holiday was giving to others and watching them open gifts.
Ida is survived by her two brothers, John Kieffer (Debbie), Denise Kieffer (Pam); six children, Laurie Manley, Judy Manley (Steve Toeniskoetter), Chris Hoover (Glenn), Penny Kolva (Dwayne), Bitzy Manley Allford, and Tom Manley (Sarah); along with 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
