RAWSON — Franklin H. Deeds, 98, of Rawson, passed away at 10:20 a.m., Monday, March 5, 2018, at Fox Run Manor, Findlay. He was born on April 27, 1919, in Hancock County to the late Moses H. and Tenna (Hughes) Deeds. He married Miriam Theresa (Bormuth) on August 17, 1941, and she preceded him in death on September 19, 2007.
Franklin is survived by his sons, John (Barbara) Deeds of Rawson and Thomas Deeds of Rawson; his daughter, Janet (David) Reese of Mt. Cory; his grandchildren: Kevin Deeds, Deanna (Mitchell) Sweazy, Ryan Deeds, Matthew Reese, Aaron (Jennifer) Reese, Jeffrey (Haley Davis) Reese, Jay (Brittany) Reese; 12 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Dwight W. Deeds; his sister, Mary Hoag.
Franklin was a U.S. Army Veteran having served our country in World War II, and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired in 1977 from Cory Rawson High School, where he was the Vocational Agriculture Teacher. He was a member of Rawson New Hope United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge, V.F.W. #4510 in Arlington, Hancock County Retired Teachers Association and the Ohio Genealogy Association. Franklin was inducted into the Hancock County Agriculture Hall of Fame and was recently the recipient of the Grand Masters Patriot Award.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Rawson New Hope United Methodist Church, Rawson, with Pastor Ben Lowell officiating. Burial will be in Tawa/Flick Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay.
