David Lee “Big Daddy” Turner, 79, of Findlay passed away on Saturday June 23, 2018 in the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay after a long battle with cancer.

David was born on August 10, 1938 in Monroe, Michigan to the late Troy and Frances (Gutherie) Turner. He married Dorothy Simoneli in 1957 and she preceded him in death. With that marriage they had seven children: Tony (Sandy) Turner, Tammy Bryson, Tim (deceased), Tonja Sheline, Tracy (Steve) Schoemaker, Tom Turner, David Turner Jr.. He then married Beverly Ferguson and she preceded him in death. They had a daughter Michelle (Jason) Turner. He then married Vicki Steffon, who survives him. With that marriage came his step children: Martin, James, Thana, Crystal and Caleb. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brothers: Dennis (Peggy) and Paul (Peg) Turner. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Harry, Ben and Dale Turner and a great-grandson Michael.

Dave was a local business man who provided many jobs to the community. In 1969, he opened his first bar the Swing Doors in Toledo, Ohio. He went on to own several other bars in Toledo and Findlay Area, which included Turners Lounge, Walnut Saloon, Charlies, Sneaky Petes’ Locomotive Office Saloon and Dave’s Hideaway II. In 1973, he moved to Findlay and opened the first construction business, Siding outlet & Builders. He then went on to own Galaxie Construction, Turner’s C.B Shop, Southside Family Restaurant and currently Cherokee Construction, Accurate Cab, Findlay Siding and Building Supply and Dave’s Hideaway Lounge where he was given many of the local and regional musicians their first jobs in music.

He hosted many benefits and bike runs to help raise money for friends and was always the first to step up when people were down. He saw the good in everybody and always provided a helping hand to those in need. He touched many lives and Dave was a lover of life. He was the life of the party who enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. He enjoyed country music, boating, traveling and was an avid Detroit Tigers and Michigan Wolverines fan. His number one passion was business, where he strived.

He was a loving husband father and grandfather His legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren,

Visitation for Dave will be on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 2:00-8:00 PM in the HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 201 Osborn Ave., Findlay, Ohio 45840.

Dave’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 10:30 AM in the St. Michael the Archangel Parish (Downtown) 617 W. Main Cross, Findlay, Ohio 45840. Interment will follow in the St. Michael Cemetery.

A benefit will in Dave’s honor will be held on July 21, 2018 with all the proceeds going to Cancer Research at the Cleveland Clinic, where the family would like memorial contributions to be made, in lieu of flowers.
