VAN BUREN — John H. Drerup, 86, of Van Buren, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at his home.

He was born on March 10, 1932 in Leipsic, Ohio to the late Edward and Adelaide (Stechschulte) Drerup. He married Helen Miller on May 18, 1957 and she preceded him in death in 2016.

John was a retired farmer. He spent much of his time hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed woodworking and making gifts for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

John is survived by his sons, Steve (Tina) Drerup, Dan Drerup, both of Van Buren, and Russ (Jean) Drerup of Avon, OH; and his daughter, Kathy (Pete) Natal of Findlay; grandchildren, John (Lia) Drerup of Plymouth, MN, Dustin (Lindsay) Drerup of Columbus, OH, Kristy (Matt) Lazowski of Avon Lake, OH, and Angela (Jeff) Middleton of Findlay; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters-in-law, Ruth Drerup and Eileen Drerup, both of Ottawa, Betty Drerup of Florida, and Jayne Wolford of Findlay. John was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter, Elmer, Clayton, Jim, and Bob Drerup; and sisters, Louise Wright, Norma Haley, Marie White, Mildred Coverston, Rosemary Lammers, Rita Wagner, and Dolores Oskey.

Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 9 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 750 Bright Rd., Findlay, Ohio 45840. Fr. Mike Zacharias will celebrate the mass. Interment will follow in Bechtel Cemetery, Van Buren.

In memory of his late wife, Helen, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
