UPPER SANDUSKY — Orville W. Burton, 88, of Upper Sandusky, died at 12:44 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at his residence surrounded by family.
He was born August 28, 1930 in Greenup, KY, to George and Lillian (William) Burton. 63 years ago he married Sally Fox on August 27, 1955 and she survives in Upper Sandusky.
Surviving are his four sons: Raymond Burton of Painsville, Ronald (Carla) Burton and Mark (Jennifer) Burton both of Lewisburg, TN and Randy (Deann) Burton of North Baltimore; Three grandsons: Chad (Nichole) Burton of Carey, Daniel (Patricia) Burton of Crossville, TN, and Noah Burton of Lewisburg, TN; four great-grandsons: Ethan, Lance, Marley and Jaxon; two great-granddaughters: Kassondra and Kara; four siblings: Emma (Jim) Smith of Bloomdale, Hazel Horn of Forest, Janet (Jimmy) Baldridge of Findlay and Dick (Betty) Burton of Forest.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a granddaughter, Lana Mundy, and eight siblings: Juanita Roach, Mildred Krider, Lora Howell, Myrtle Rigsby, Mary Ann Baldridge, Junior Burton, Earl Burton and Robert Burton.
He was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army with the light armor division and received a Bronze Service Star.
After working various jobs early in life, he worked for and retired from Walter Service Work in Wharton.
When Orville was not working, you could find he and his family relaxing at Tee Pee Campgrounds. Something they all enjoyed for the past 51 years. He also enjoyed fishing and taking trips to Amish country. He liked watching the Michigan Wolverines and Cleveland Browns. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday September 7, 2018 at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, with Chaplain Steve Sturgeon officiating. Burial will follow at Wharton Richland-Union Cemetery in Wharton with military graveside rites conducted by the Carey Honor Guard.
