CITY COUNCIL DEALS LOW BLOW TO THE PEOPLE
City Council dealt a low blow to one-third of the citizens of Findlay when their Blanchard Street vote took the government of the people, by the people, for the people, away from the people.
I will not defend the other two-thirds because they don’t vote (which is its own sad commentary). To prove the seven members who voted for it knew they were wrong, they tucked in a loophole preventing the voters from correcting the mistake they made.
When I read the resolution article on Tuesday’s (Dec. 31) front page I was hoping to see at least one of those seven members resolve to vote for what the people wanted, but I was let down.
It would be nice to see this maneuver make people vote the offenders out of office, but incumbents normally get a free ticket to stay in office.
I want to thank council members Frische, Shindledecker and Wobser for using courage to vote for the people and not the administration.
